Madrid – The Spanish paper « La Razon » said on Monday that there are links between the Polisario separatists and the Basque terrorist organization, ETA.

The ETA youth organization, known as SEGI has contacted twice this year the Sahrawi separatists, said the paper quoting the Spanish police.

Idoia Iragorri Petuya, a SEGI leader who has been recently arrested in Spain, travelled last summer twice to Morocco. During these visits, she was in the southern provinces, said the newspaper, underlining that « the Spanish police suspect that the two visits are related to the activities of the Kamaradak organization. »

The paper says that « Kamaradak » is an arm of ETA which « claims establishing a network of stable relations between the different pro-independence groups, notably in Catalonia and Galicia, and other similar groups in different parts of the world where secessionist phenomena are taking place. »

When questioned by the Spanish police, the SEGI leader in Vizcaya (Biscayne) admitted that she has been in Morocco twice and during one of her trips, she visited the southern provinces.

The first trip was on July 11-19 in company with two other people. Her contact in Morocco was a person named « Hassanna » who put them in touch with two people: « Ahmed » and « Dafa ».

The second journey was from August 27 through September 3. The SEGI leader claims that she stayed in Marrakech.

Though the ETA activist said that she went to the southern provinces to do tourism and get acquainted with the Sahara situation, the police suspect that her travels to the Sahara are linked with the Kamaradak’s activities, like her travels on July 24 to Santiago de Compostela where she contacted a leader of AMI, an SEGI-like group which is being investigated by the Spanish police for conducting terrorist activities, La Razon said.
