According to some educational psychologists, there are two types of stress: 1- debilitative and 2- facilitative stress
As teir names indicate, debilitative stress, also called trait stress is part and parcel of the learner's personality, and the subject can never overcome his/her stress and cope with his/her environment unless assisted with a therapist. As for facilitative stress, or state stress, as opposed to trait stress, is desirable and always acts as an impetus to success. without state anxiety the test taker shows indifference and carelessness and always ends up with a poor outcome. Nevertheless, some tips to overcome the types are suggested:
1 self talk: the test taker, or the stressed in general can resort to self encouragement to boost his/her moral, such as reciting moses prayer:"Rabbi Ishrah Li Sadry, Wayassir Li Amry, Wahlul ‘Uqdatan Min Lisany, yafqahu Qawly."/My Lord, I ask you to expand my breast, make my task easy, undo the knot in my tongue so that my speech will become comprehensible/
2 trying to convince onself that nothing is impossible in life. if others are able to o things, why not me? If i set my mind to something i can get it. (this produce fantastic results with people who have a positive image of themselves= high self esteem
3- striving to control one's thoughts. when thoughts are not controlled the mind is sent into confusion
4- busy oneself with something sweet before or during the test; a sweet, a date or even a chewin gum can have some positive effect on the test taker's psyche.
5- trying to forget about one's limitations. Each individual has some points of strength, if we can keep them in mind before exams, they will serve as springboard to overcoming hurdles. positive thoughts are in themselves a mighty elan
6- others....
7- Good luck

Many thanks to Mr Boudour for evoking such an important issue
According to some educational psychologists, there are two types of stress: 1- debilitative and 2- facilitative stress
As teir names indicate, debilitative stress, also called trait stress is part and parcel of the learner’s personality, and the subject can never overcome his/her stress and cope with his/her environment unless assisted with a therapist.
